Carnations, Hydrangeas, and Roses, oh my!
Summer is winding down, and these florals are the perfect inspo for your next end of summer arrangement
Although the majority has been spent indoors with outside appearances here and there, I’m still in denial about the idea that Summer 2020 is coming to and end.
I don’t know about anyone else, but when I think of the month of September, I think of it as a reset. School starts, business picks up, daylight hours gradually become shorter, and there’s a cool breeze in the air, which means falls is underway.
With that said, I did something I NEVER do, and picked up some darker florals from my local Safeway (in this case, dark purple carnations) and decided to get creative.
While I love love LOVE my budget friendly Trader Joe’s flowers, this time I decided to treat myself. It’s no secret that grocery store flowers are way more expensive than Trader Joe’s, sometimes I hear a little voice in my head saying “Treat yourself!” HOWEVER, a girl still has to monitor her coin LOL so these bouquets were about $27 in total. I usually stay within $15-$25 for arrangements, however, four bouquets for under $30 isn’t bad, especially if I can create two arrangements - One as a centerpiece for my coffee or dining room table, and the other for my bar cart.
For these arrangements, I used the following:
(10) stem carnations
(5) stem mini green hydrangeas
Baby’s breath
(1) dozen white roses
End of Summer Arrangement #1
(6) white roses
(3) 5 stem mini green hydrangeas
(7) stem carnations
Also worth an honorable mention - two of my favorite cover girls - Tracee Ellis Ross & Zoe Kravitz :)
End of Summer Arrangement #2:
(5) white roses
(2) mini green hydrangeas
There’s something about a simple green and white arrangement that I love. Similar to my tulip arrangement I discussed in my Less is More blog post, I wanted something simple but beautiful to place on my bar cart. I have so many different wine bottles, so an arrangement as simple as this one using the tape grid method (stay tuned!) is the perfect touch!
BTW..If you don’t know the tape grid method, you’re about to learn. Stay tuned!
