Faux Floral Feels

All+three.jpg

Obviously, I love creating fresh arrangements every two weeks or so, but I know there are others who feel like they can’t ever keep them alive, and my cousin is one of them LOL. In her case, silk (AKA faux) florals are right up her alley, because they obviously last forever. She asked me to create three small arrangements for her home, with any flower/color combo of my choice, so of course I was up for it.

While this was my first time arranging silk florals, I didn’t want to just stick them in a vase, and be done. Instead, I decided to get a little (Emphasis on little!) crafty, head to Michaels, and purchase quick waterand floral foam to give her arrangements a little razzle dazzle LOL. FYI, I’m NOT the DIY girl, flowers are as good as it gets for me, so this is useful for literally anyone intersted in adding height to their arrangement, or wanting to keep the shape of the arrangement.

The best thing about making arrangements is that you can create to your liking, and there’s no right or wrong way to put it together. For this one I cut the foam block down the middle, placed both blocks in a vertical position to add height, then began filling with silk florals.

Arrangements #2 and #3 wrapped in floral wire and dipped in Quick Water

Quick Water gives silk arrangements the illusion that your vases are filled in water, when in reality, they aren’t. Since this was my first time using this, it was trial and error, but luckily more trial than error. After stirring the solution and pouring into the vase, I wrapped both arrangements with floral wire, and placed into each vase. It takes about 10 hours to dry, so you have plenty of time to arrange how you want it to look. Once it drys it IS permanent, so you def won’t be able to reuse your vases for a new arrangement.

As always, my goal is to create budget friendly arrangements, so it’s also worth an honorable mention that all florals are from a local dollar tree, and for a total of $13.

WIN WIN WIN!
